Devizes for EU says: On 12 December, vote to keep the Tories out!
In Devizes the first task for remainers is to squeeze the Tory vote hard. Voting for the best-placed candidate not a member of the Conservative party is the way to do this. That may mean voting for a party we would not usually support. So be it: the Brexit challenge requires an exceptional response. The choice is yours.
On 13 December there are two possible futures. We’ll wake up either to a Boris Johnson majority delivering a chaotic No Deal or a Hard Brexit or to a People’s Vote Parliament offering a final say on Brexit with the option to put a stop to this mess.
The Tories want to detach the UK from the EU, which will minimise your rights as an employee, imperil our environment, destroy the UK’s main trading relationship, and risk the very union of the United Kingdom. We can’t vote for a Conservative.
The Greens, Labour, and the Liberal Democrats promise a people’s vote with the option of the UK remaining a EU member. That means we could campaign for continued membership. We’d be able to demonstrate that there is no deal better than the one we have today. One of these parties deserves a remainer’s vote. But which one?
Who to vote for tactically in Devizes?
The last general election seems a decade or more ago. In the two years since it was held, we’re on our second prime minister. The nation is more sharply divided than ever before; politics likewise.
In the Devizes constituency, Labour came second in the general election of 2017. The Tories took over 62% of the poll with nearly three times as many votes as Labour. The Liberal Democrats were third with 4,706 votes and 9.3% of the poll. The Greens came fifth: 1,606 and 3.2%. We recommend that you delay your decision just before voting on Thursday 12 December, visit Remain United and vote for the candidate nearest the top.
